Elements of strategic thinking in Iranian organizations

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to determine elements of strategic thinking in the context of Iranian organizations and to find out the interactions and relationships among determined elements. A literature review and also in-depth interviews with experts are conducted to identify strategic thinking elements. Interpretive Structural Modeling methodology is used for analyzing and determining the relationship between elements based on literature review and expert’s opinion.
The model resulted from this research, can be used for assessing the strategic thinking capacity in organizations and developing appropriate training and educational programs aiming at improving strategic thinking ability among managers and enhancing group and organizational factors affecting strategic thinking.
